Mother's Day Thoughts

Mother's Day for me is a time of reflection. My family lives 3000 miles away, which means I'm not with them on Mother's Day (although my mom and I usually talk on the phone). So, I usually spend this day, quietly, relecting on time's past. My favorite memories are of those times that Sarah, Danielle, Timothy and Elizabeth came out of Sunday School with a marigold planted in a styrofoam cup and handed it to me. It made me feel special and it touched my heart that I was blessed with these children. I can see these flowers so clearly as if it just happened yesterday....yellows and burnt oranges.
I still have the homemade cards that they made for me too. I keep a special box filled with those things along with old pictures. I hope to sometime sit down and put together a scrapbook. Yes, Mother's Day is a day of looking back and a day of thanking the Lord for all our blessings. It's a very special day. And, I thank God for my mother and for the healthy children he so richly blessed me with.
